Privacy
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how DistilIQ ("DistilIQ," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our marketing website at distiliq.com or use the DistilIQ platform (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you provide directly. When you request a demo, sign up, or contact us, we collect your name, email, distillery name, phone number, and any message content. When you become a customer, we collect billing details and the operational data you enter into the Service (containers, mashbills, bottling events, sales, customers, invoices, audit log entries, and similar production data).
- Information collected automatically. When you use the Service we record technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, session duration, feature usage, referring URL, and timestamps. We use this for security, debugging, and product improvement.
- Information from integrations. If you connect a third-party service (for example, QuickBooks Online), we receive data from that service as authorized by you, limited to what the integration requires.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- generate the reports, calculations, and exports you request (including TTB-related outputs);
- respond to inquiries, provide customer support, and send service-related communications;
- secure the Service, detect abuse, and investigate suspected violations of our Terms of Service;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your operational distillery data to train general-purpose machine-learning models.
3. AI features
Some features of the Service use third-party AI providers (for example, Anthropic's Claude API) to generate tasting notes, analyze feedback, or answer natural-language questions about your data. When you use these features, the relevant inputs (and only the relevant inputs) are sent to the provider for processing under their terms. We select providers whose terms prohibit using customer inputs to train their models.
4. How we share information
We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors for hosting, email delivery, error monitoring, payment processing, and AI model inference. These vendors are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations and may only use the data to provide services to us.
- Within your tenant. Information you enter is visible to other authorized users of your distillery's DistilIQ tenant according to their assigned role (admin, contributor, or viewer).
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of DistilIQ, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers. If DistilIQ is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred, with notice to affected customers.
5. Data retention
We retain customer data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel, we retain your data for a reasonable period to allow for export and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, then delete or anonymize it. Audit log records may be retained longer where required for compliance purposes.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted password storage (bcrypt), role-based access controls, audit logging on all data mutations, and regular off-site backups. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information consistent with the sensitivity of the data and the state of the art.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, additional rights may apply.
8. Cookies and tracking
The marketing site uses minimal cookies necessary for basic site function. The Service uses a session cookie for authentication and a built-in usage analytics system that records aggregate product usage. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to active customers via email.
